🏛️ About Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST)

Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST), founded in 1951, offers multidisciplinary education in engineering, sciences, management, literature, law, economics, and education with unique engineering characteristics. It is a key construction university of Shandong Province for cultivating personnel with practical abilities. It is co-built by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the former State Administration of Work Safety.

The University now has three campuses, located respectively in Qingdao, Tai’an, and Jinan, covering a total area of 253 hectares with a floor space of 1.46 million square meters. The University’s total assets are valued at 2.897 billion yuan RMB (teaching instruments and equipment 0.746 billion yuan RMB).

The University comprises 33 academic colleges, 6 research institutions, and one independent college. There are 8 centers for post-doctoral studies, 10 first-tier disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees with 27 doctoral programs; 16 disciplines to confer master’s degrees and 90 undergraduate programs.

The University boasts 1 state key discipline (under construction), 5 first-class disciplines of Shandong province and 19 key disciplines of Shandong province and Qingdao city. Engineering, mathematics, chemistry and materials science have entered the top 1% of ESI in the world. There’s also a state key lab base co-founded by Shandong Province and the Ministry of Education, 2 state-local joint engineering centers and 71 ministerial/provincial key disciplines (labs, engineering centers).

SDUST currently enrolls over 36,134 full-time students, including more than 9,032 master and doctoral candidates. Among a faculty and staff of over 3,150  are 283 professors, including 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 11 dual-employed academicians, 1 foreign academician of Japanese Academy of Engineering, 16 candidates of the “State Engineering Talent Project”, Outstanding Young Scholar Foundation Program professors and Yangtse Program professors. 6 professors are honored with titles of National Young- and Middle-aged Experts with Oustanding Contributions. 52 professors are entitled to state special subsidies. There are two leading talents in the talent team of Taishan Scholar's Advantageous and Characteristic disciplines, 30 experts in the Taishan Climbing Project, 30 specially hired experts and young experts, and 21 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Shandong Province. There are 11 provincial excellent teachers, 4 national model teachers, and 7 national excellent teachers. There are two Education Ministry innovation teams and 2 Shandong province innovation teams.

There are 8 national feature specialties and comprehensive reform experimental specialty. There are 10 excellent open courses, resource sharing courses and excellent courses, 5 teaching achievement awards, 5 experimental teaching demonstration centers, virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, and engineering practice education centers, 1 virtual simulation experimental teaching project, 1 talent training mode innovation experimental area, 1 teaching team and 1 off-campus practical education base for college students. There are 18 provincial-level brand characteristic majors, 9 high-level application-oriented project groups, 5 education docking industrial projects serving the new and old kinetic energy conversion, 58 excellent courses, 95 teaching achievement awards, 7 experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 talent training model innovation experimental areas, 8 teaching teams, 1 new and old kinetic energy conversion industrial training base.
