The major was founded in 1987, and has formed a complete training system from undergraduate to graduate (master and doctoral) education. Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), also known as Nan Xin Da was founded in 1960 by the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the Ministry of Education of China, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and the State Oceanic Administration.
